Popular spathiphyllum and anthurium hail from the tropics. Externally, the plants are quite similar, they even gained folk symbolism as “male” and “female” happiness.
Before you plant these plants at home, you should learn a little more about them.
The most striking difference between spathiphyllum (spathiphyllum) and anthurium (anthurium) is in colors. The first is tender and bright, therefore associated with a woman. The second has shades from white to bright scarlet, firm to the touch and even a little hard.
Female and male happiness
It is precisely because of such differences and external similarities that the flowers look unusually beautiful in the interior. Also, the aroma of plants may vary depending on the variety, it varies from a gentle barely substitute, volatile to a pronounced and even slightly tart.
Interesting. Despite the fact that both plants belong to the genus Aroid, they are quite different in their appearance.
Among the inhabitants of the tropics, Anthurium is associated with courage and passion. It is believed that after the wedding in the room, young people should keep these flowers all their honeymoon. Anthurium has a positive effect on the mood of domestic animals, relieves fatigue after a hard working week, helps to recover from an illness, and even helps eliminate some bacteria.
According to legend, the spathiphyllum was presented by the goddess Astrata to an ordinary girl on the day of her marriage. The goddess put happiness and joy into the plant, after which the flower became associated with "female happiness." Now it is believed that if the spathiphyllum is in the house, then every single girl will have happiness, the most important thing is to believe in the strength of the flower.
Different shades of anthurium
Interesting. Precisely because male and female happiness cannot be without each other, flower growers plant these plants in one pot.
It is believed that Anthurium fulfills some desires and will mark certain events:
- if the flower has bloomed, it means that in the life of the hosts a white stripe sets in;
- it is best if someone gives the plant, although bought personally will bring a lot of luck and joy;
- a flower is not only able to bring happiness, as well as smooth out misunderstandings, but also will teach to circumvent sharp corners in family life;
- if someone in the house has heart disease, it is better to have such a plant, it especially affects the health of elderly parents;
- the flower will not let you grieve; it will bring positive and joy to the house;
- if a man began to have age-related problems with male health, then this flower is simply necessary on the windowsill;
- when a girl cannot find a bridegroom or meet a worthy young man, then anthurium will also come to the rescue;
- the girl with the flower got married, then urgently should get a pair for him - spathiphyllum;
- the plant helps to increase and maintain cash savings.
Interesting. The best place for an anthurium is considered to be a bedside table, in extreme cases - the nearest window sill. There should be no electrical appliances nearby; they will steal all the positive energy.
Gentle spathiphyllum
Some signs of spathiphyllum:
- a good personal assistant for women;
- helps to find a worthy companion;
- what is interesting is that if a young man likes a girl, but life does not work out with him, and he is not capable of a long-term relationship, the plant will scare him away;
- for women in marriage will help to make relations with a beloved man more complete, rich, teach respect and mutual understanding;
- if you want to give birth to a baby, it will also contribute and help.
Important! A flower helps exclusively only those who believe in its gift, if not, then it can be considered a coincidence or an accident, but it's worth a try.
Related flowers still need different care, which means it is not recommended to plant them in one pot. Just put the plants next to the windowsill. If they bloom at the same time, then truly happiness will not take long. Favorable changes are already on the verge.
If the desire to plant male happiness anthurium, female happiness spathiphyllum together in one pot is strong, then it is worth choosing an elongated version, in which there is the possibility of internal separation into two parts. This must be done, otherwise the anthurium will not allow the roots of the spathiphyllum to develop, and the second will die.
Plant conditions are similar, but spathiphyllum can tolerate lower temperatures. Spathiphyllum roots need a little space in the pot, it blooms only after it has filled all the space; for anthurium, as much free space as possible is needed.
Unusual landing of spathiphyllum and anthurium
With co-cultivation, the most difficult will be the wintering period. He loves additional coverage of the spathiphyllum white "feminine happiness", the anthurium enters into hibernation from November to February.
To grow spathiphyllum and anthurium together in one pot, you will need excellent care for each of the flowers. Although they are relatives, there are still differences in the care of them. Proper maintenance will help create a unique tandem of these plants.
Temperature
Spathiphyllum will feel fine if in summer the temperature is in the range from + 210С to 220С, in winter it should be maintained at + 13-160С. In turn, Anthurium prefers higher temperatures and in summer it will rejoice with air at + 25-300С, in winter - + 16-200С.
If female happiness is spathiphyllum, male happiness, anthurium are in the same pot, then it will be quite difficult to maintain such a difference, you will have to maintain the temperature at the boundary indicators.
Lighting
The attitude to direct sunlight in both plants is quite unambiguous - they do not like them. Both brothers prefer diffused sunlight, partial shade, while the place of growth should be quite bright, no dark corners.
Important! If the anthurium is a male flower, the spathiphyllum female plant is put in a dark place, then their foliage will lose its attractiveness, become pale and not so magnificent.
Watering
Watering is very different in these two colors - “male happiness” loves moderate watering, “female happiness”, on the contrary, is plentiful, in summer plentiful spraying. In winter, anthurium should be watered no more than once every 15 days, spathiphyllum is transferred to moderate watering.

Anthurium is better to take a soft coniferous substrate with leaf and peat soil. Lay a drainage at the bottom of the pot, cover with moss on top, which will help maintain moisture, and the plant will feel at home.
